This exhibit encompasses some of my most recent ceramic work. In attempt to bring an urban atmosphere into an indoor space I have created brick walls with stenciled imagery.
Each brick was hand rolled, set, and grouted. The images range from Basquiat, a leading figure in graffiti, to Arab women in response to the war. Among the floor are three figure sculptures. The busts represent our impermanence to the world.
Each figure was sculpted anatomically correct, then covered in wax virtually losing all its features. A park bench sits in the corner where doves covered in news articles perch. The flock continues to travel.
