Its location and size make it extremely visible to the public.

This deep retail space contains two sections: a row of five 10’ x 4’ windows with an inset glass double doorway on the North Street side, and a vacant corner ATM space. Inside the ATM space are several walls, a wheelchair ramp and carpeting, all viewable through five additional 10’ x 4’ glass windows. 4 smaller windows, approximately 7.5’ x 3.5’, are located on the adjacent side of the building. Electricity and some existing lighting available.

Artwork may be contain two and three-dimensional elements. The installation must be illuminated at night. Lighting may be incorporated into the piece or used as a display component only. Artist(s) must complete the installation on or before November 20, 2010.
Storefront Artist Project (SAP), a non-profit arts organization, brings art to diverse members of the community by presenting innovative art exhibitions and installations, providing non-traditional, visually accessible studio space to artists, and connecting artists with the public through education, opportunities and exposure. Its programs include storefront artist residencies, the Mentor and Intern Programs, exhibitions in its gallery/office at 124 Fenn Street, monthly Artist Salons, and Open Studio events. SAP has used empty storefronts as temporary studios and installation spaces since 2001. This creative movement helped transform Pittsfield into a thriving community with a revitalized economy. The city is now home to numerous arts organizations including the Berkshire Museum, Ferrin Gallery, Lichtenstein Center for the Arts, Pittsfield Contemporary, Gallery 25, Art on No Artist Collective, Alchemy Initiative, Artscape (a public art program) and over two dozen artist studios.
